One of the best parts of my work is getting to meet and talk with women entrepreneurs all over the country. I think there is a common thread among all of us–we are so enthusiastic! When I step away from one of these conversations, I am so excited. I have just talked with someone who is captivated by what she does. Each woman has not only started her business but has marvelous ideas for its future. Yes, of course we talk about the challenges of running a business, but fundamentally there is delight in what we do.
I think it’s important to take a minute, have a cool drink on these hot days, and revel in what we have accomplished and are looking forward to.
Here’s looking at you, lady!

Good morning, Bonnie,
I agree that one of the best parts of creating and owning my business is that I connect with women across the country , as well as, the surprise of Italy, Germany, Africa, and Australia. We are all mothers who are shifting roles as we hug our children goodbye and begin having adult relationships with them. Entering or sitting in the empty nest is a challenging and joyous stage of life. I knew I did not want to go through the journey alone, so I took my seed of idea and began support with other mothers from my high school, well, not my high school, my daugher’s, but it was a community that I knew would be ending. I built a new community of parents in the empty nest. Empty Nest Support Services. I am passionate about new beginnings , support, and having healthy relationships with yourself first, and then your children. Who knew I would change careers in my fifties! Natalie

Natalie,
We are birds of a feather! Where you saw potential difficulty in changes, you reached out to others and reaped the reward! I think that it was your wisdom of your fifties that helped you see the need and the opportunity! Bravo!

You all might be inspired and enlightened by interviews we conducted at the annual Women’s Entrepreneurial Conference in Chicago this last August. We captured “on the street” interviews the show to hear what challenges, rewards and funny stories women business owners were willing to share with us.
